Denyse Ogilvie, CEO, People in Action “People in Action” is a registered, Grenadian non-profit company that focuses on alternative growth through research & resource development. PIA’s research focuses on innovative development solutions for the sustainable growth of the country; projects will be nature-based and people-based. PIA has built a network of consultants to collaborate on socio-economic development and using the participatory approach to implement programs. “People in Action” has formal arrangements with a listing of technocrats to act as advisors to the various developments, the “PIA Technical Consultants”. MissionTo facilitate a process that will enable the communities to acceptresponsibilities, to explore possibilities & take action to improvetheir standard of living in a continuing and independent basis throughtransparency and accountability. Vision An alternative development agency that thrives to ensure thatcommunities are empowered to sustainable develop and maintain theiravailable resources thus enjoying enhanced standard of living andimprove livelihood. GoalTo foster the holistic socio-economical development of communities through stakeholder participation, asset management and empowerment.
The Philosophy It has been the experience and observation of “People in Action” that our country and its communities have voiced the desire for change and development. However, resources and training elude development’s progress. In today’s world, global changes have forced Governments to downsize and funding for non-profit organization projects are elusive, and both lack dedicated or available human resources for affecting the monitoring & guidance of developmental efforts. Our services are partnership orientated, with a view to creating alliances within our ventures between all segments of the society; communities, development agencies, Government, private sector and development specialists & technocrats. “People in Action”, supported by technocrats who share the same viewpoint and experiences, has developed the volunteer tourism program, which we have labeled, “Maroon Tours” that will act as a supporting arm of development. The “Maroon Tours” concept is based on a Grenadian tradition.
